ONE
Jack turned one year old today. Grandma and grandpa Fleischauer and Aunt Alison and Uncle Josh were in town from New York to celebrate this milestone with him. He spent his birthday eating German chocolate cake, driving his new "wheels," and marvelling over the sea creatures at the Georgia Aquarium, the largest in the world. Even though it is Jack's birthday, the greatest gift of all has been Jack himself! I am astounded at all that has taken place in one year. Our blessings are too many to count. We are looking forward to celebrating his first birthday all over again with the Marz family soon.

Mountain Boy
Jack made another trip to the Land's End cabin this past weekend. Our little Tarheel loves North Carolina. He has been up a number of times now. When I was choosing pics to put up on the blog, I looked back at the photos from one of his first trips up there when he was just 11 weeks old (see far below). While the view remains exactly the same (magnificent), Jack sure has changed a ton. There is no doubt he will be ready for some 10-mile hikes this summer. Kidding. Sort of.
This past weekend- one week from his 1st birthday

"Call me"
Jack just cracks us up these days. He is constantly into something whether it be putting his toothbrush into the toilet or gliding his favorite toy (a 2 pound metal doorstopper) on the floor. We have joined the YMCA so he can get some energy out in his Toddlercize and swim classes (thank you, YMCA!). Oh yeah- and now you can call him on his cell.
"I'm telling you straight up-I think you're not sleeping well because you're going through a growth spurt."

Big Boy Chair
Jack has graduated to grown-up chairs. Aaron even taught him how to get down from them! He continues to surprise us every day with what he can do. He is our perpetual motion man- never sits still for a moment and climbs on everything that stands still long enough- including the stairs (yikes!) What I love best, though, is that our fearless little acrobat loves to snuggle.

The Latest
Jack has added some new facial expressions and activities to his repertoire. He now crawls away from you like the wind every time you say, "I'm gonna get you!" The new thing he does regularly is letting out little piercing screams. We have found ourselves getting into little scream contests with him. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em, right?
